01The service

Explain Snap is an AI assistant for Chrome and Edge that explains selected text, screenshots and questions in a side panel. Answers are generated by an AI model: they can be incomplete or wrong, and you should check important information.

02Your account

  • An account is required to use AI features. There is no anonymous access.
  • AI features are available only after you verify your email address.
  • You are responsible for keeping your password secret and for activity on your account. One account per person.
  • A suspended account, or an account whose email address was disabled after a delivery failure, has no access to AI features.

03Credits, plans and limits

Free account

A free account receives 10 free credits, once, after its email address is verified. We may add free credits to an account. Free credits never expire and do not renew. Once they are used up, a Lite or Pro subscription is needed to keep using AI features.

How credits are used

  • One AI request uses one credit.
  • If the AI provider fails to answer, the credit is refunded.
  • Subscription credits are used first, because they expire; free credits are used after them.

Lite

Lite includes 250 credits per month. They renew on the monthly anniversary date of your subscription (in UTC), including with yearly billing. Unused monthly credits expire at renewal and do not carry over. Your free credits stay separate and do not expire.

Pro

Pro has no monthly credit cap. Hourly and daily safety limits still apply.

Safety limits

All plans, Pro included, are limited to 100 AI requests per hour and 500 AI requests per rolling 24 hours, per account. When a limit is reached, requests are refused until older requests leave the window.

Credits have no cash value, cannot be transferred and are not refunded when an account is closed.

04Subscriptions and payment

Plans are paid in US dollars through Stripe. Current prices are shown on the Pricing page: Lite costs $7.99 per month or $69 per year, Pro costs $20 per month or $199 per year.

  • An account can have only one subscription at a time.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each monthly or yearly period until cancelled.
  • Subscribing, paying and managing your plan happen only on the website, from your profile. Paid features are activated once Stripe confirms the payment.
  • Upgrade: you can move from Lite to Pro only. The upgrade starts a new Pro month or year at the full price, with no proration, refund or credit for the remaining Lite period.
  • Cancellation: you can cancel at any time from your profile. Your plan stays active until the end of the period already paid, then is not renewed.
  • Failed payment: if a renewal is not paid, paid features are suspended immediately until payment. Your free credits remain available. You can settle an open invoice from your profile.
  • We may change prices for future periods. We will tell you by email before the change applies to your subscription, and you can cancel before then.

05Right of withdrawal

If you are a consumer in the European Union, you have a right of withdrawal of 14 days from the start of your subscription, without giving a reason. To use it, contact us at contact@explainsnap.com within that period.

If you ask for your subscription to start immediately, you acknowledge that the service starts during the withdrawal period. If you then withdraw, you pay for the service used until your request. If you used the service in full before the end of the 14 days, you lose your right of withdrawal.

06Acceptable use

Explain Snap is a learning tool, made to help you understand. You agree not to:

  • use it to cheat in exams, tests or assessments where outside help is not allowed;
  • send illegal content, content you have no right to share, or other people’s personal data without a legal basis;
  • try to bypass credits or limits, share or resell your account, or automate requests beyond normal personal use;
  • attack, overload or reverse engineer the service.

07Suspension and closing an account

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, after informing you where possible. A suspended account has no access to AI features.

You can close your account at any time by writing to contact@explainsnap.com or through the contact form (subject “Account or data deletion”). Cancel any subscription first.

08Liability

We do our best to keep Explain Snap available and accurate but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service or error-free answers. Within the limits allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect damage, or for decisions made based on AI answers. Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer.

09Personal data

How we handle your data is described in the Privacy Policy.

10Changes

We may update these terms. We will tell you about significant changes by email or in the extension before they apply. If you do not accept them, you can cancel your subscription and close your account.

11Applicable law and disputes

These terms are governed by French law. In case of a dispute, contact us first at contact@explainsnap.com: we will look for an amicable solution. As a consumer, you can also use a consumer mediator or the courts competent under the law.
